Assess Work Capacity
Often, after injury, the question arises, "Will I be able to safely perform my job duties?" Employers and insurers may insist on objective proof that workers will not be put at risk by performing their job functions. Rehabilitation in Motion provides a Functional Capacity Evaluation protocol that is accepted in the field and is peer reviewed to be both reliable and valid. Our evaluations take place over a one or two day period.
Physical abilities related to musculoskeletal strength, endurance, speed and flexibility can be determined. The types of tests used will vary with the objective of the evaluation and the referral question.
Some of the questions an FCE may answer include:
Would therapy be beneficial?
Do the workers' functional abilities match the demands of the job?
If not, what restrictions should be placed on the worker?
Would modification/ergonomic change in the workplace assist them in returning to work safely?
Are the workers' pain complaints reliable indicators of ability?
